Do you manage websites you didn't build?
Short answer: no. Knight Visuals only looks after websites it has built. That can sound like a sales line, so here's the reasoning, and why a fresh build usually works out cheaper than it first looks.
The short answer
If you already have a website, whether a friend built it, an old agency set it up or you made it yourself on a site builder, we won't take it over as it is. Every new client starts with a custom build, and ongoing management picks up from there.
Why every site starts with a fresh build
Managing a website means being responsible for it: keeping it working, keeping it fast and helping it get found on Google. That's hard to promise on a site you didn't build. These are the problems that usually turn up:
- Unknown code and plugins. Plugin-heavy sites often carry years of add-ons nobody remembers installing. One update can break something you won't notice until a customer does.
- Platform lock-in. Sites made on builders like Wix or Squarespace live inside that platform. You can change the words and pictures, but not much of what sits underneath, which is usually where speed and SEO problems are.
- Missing logins. It's common for the domain, hosting or Google accounts to be registered to a previous designer. That has to be sorted out first either way.
- No clean starting point. Without knowing how a site was put together, it's hard to tell whether changes are helping.
If we're responsible for keeping your site working and bringing in enquiries, we need to know exactly how it was built.
Why a fresh build usually saves money

Patching an old site feels cheaper, but the costs tend to show up later: in fixes, in slow pages that lose visitors, and in paying someone to work around problems instead of solving them. A new build gives you:
- A site built for how your customers actually find you: on their phone, searching locally.
- Clean foundations for SEO, so the monthly work builds on something solid.
- One point of contact who knows every part of it.
We've been through this ourselves. The Knight Visuals site started out on Wix before we rebuilt it as a custom-coded site.
What it costs
A standard 4–6 page custom-built site starts from £900. Commit to a 12‑month package and the build fee drops to £450. From there you move onto Starter, Growth or Premium for ongoing management, content, SEO and marketing.
What if you just need a logo?
Branding work doesn't need a website. A logo or rebrand is also available as a standalone quote if you're not ready for an ongoing package.
